VA League for Safer Streets

Established in 2017 by myself and Jawad Adul, the VA League for Safer Streets struggled for a year to meet Chief Alfred Durham of the Richmond, VA, police. After securing a meeting, Chief Durham supported our vision, granting a six-week session to tackle gun violence, particularly in low-income areas. Over six years, we’ve grown significantly, offering three 12-week sessions annually for 200+ young males citywide. With components like summer employment, behavior modification, and aid distribution, each session expands in impact. Supported by institutions like Virginia Commonwealth University and Richmond Police, our vision surpasses expectations, fostering profound positive change since inception.
