Organization of Permaculture and Art

The Organization of Permaculture and Art (OPA) educates and brings awareness through permaculture and art, with the intention of promoting a sustainable, creative and cooperative society. We work with underserved youth in the city of Salvador, especially in the historic center neighborhood, as well as the coastal fishing community of Diogo located one hour outside of Salvador in the state of Bahia, Brazil.

Circo Água Viva is OPA’s pilot project that educates through fun, presenting environmental education through circus arts and physical theater to underserved youth in Brazil. After workshops in theater, circus and permaculture, the project culminates in a performance in a public space of the community. The participants have the opportunity to share their talents with their family and friends. They finish the project with increased self-esteem, new skills, and a deeper understanding of their environment.
