For three years I helped organize “Rekindling the Fires of our Sisterhood” gatherings uniting Haudenosaunee women together as one. Here, an amazing unification of our On^yata:aka (Oneida) women bloomed. Our Nation has been divided by colonization into three communities for 200 years. Realizing that we had no place to hold a ceremony together free from politics and tensions, we set our intentions. A gift of 30 acres of our ancestral homelands was returned to the women of our nations. Nine of our women, including myself, created a non-for-profit to manage our rematriated lands for food sovereignty and spirituality.
