Dria Price & Halima Salazar
Halima and Dria are two phenomenal black women who were transplanted in Mississippi and started farming together in 2019. Halima was born in Jos, Nigeria and has both, an undergraduate degree from Abilene, Texas and a culinary certificate from Chef’s Academy in Abuja, Nigeria. She sees herself as a bridge between West African food and the Foodways of the south. Dria has been a resident of Oxford since 2003, when she moved here with her family. Since then, she has graduated from the University of Mississippi (twice!) and has been active in a variety of projects in the community. Together, Halima and Dria have started Justevia Teas and Gimbia’s Kitchen. These are two businesses that focus on healing people by connecting them with the earth and Africa, through herbal teas and traditional West African cuisine.
