Black Yield Institute

Black Yield Institute (BYI) is committed to advancing food sovereignty in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded on the principles of self determination, sustainability, and community empowerment, BYI seeks to address the systemic disparities faced by Black communities in accessing healthy, culturally relevant food. At its core, BYI operates as an educational hub and community space, offering workshops, training, and resources that promote sustainable agriculture, urban farming, and culinary traditions rooted in Pan African tradition, morals and values. Additionally, BYI is dedicated to amplifying Black voices and leadership in the food sovereignty movement. Through advocacy, policy initiatives, and partnerships with like-minded organizations, we aim to dismantle discriminatory systems that perpetuate food insecurity and marginalization.
